Payment Failed
Why Did My Payment Fail?
When signing up for the first time, or renewing an existing subscription, your credit/debit card payment could be declined for the following reasons:
- Incorrect card number, expiration date, or auth code (CVC)
- Insufficient funds
- Card type: Certain types of debit cards won't work for online subscription payments. Reach out to your bank for more information.
- Bank security settings / Authentication failure: Even if your card is valid, many banks (especially in Europe) require that you have permissions set up for online automatic subscriptions. Or, they may have other security settings that result in specific transactions getting declined. Call the support number on the back of your card and ask them to take a look at your account and recommend a solution. Sometimes they just need to remove a block, sometimes you need to set up the bank's app on your phone in order to authenticate the payment, and other times you may need to use a different card.
How Do I Retry the Payment?
If you're signing up for the first time, you can follow these steps:
- Step 1: Log in to your account in a web browser (using the email and password you just entered during sign up)
- Step 2: Complete the sign up form again here: Become a Member
If there are any problems, just contact us for help.
If you're an existing member and your renewal payment failed:
- The payment may be retried automatically, but if you don't see any change after a few minutes, or if you need to update the payment details, please contact us and we'll clear out the hold so that you can try again. Either way, don't worry, you won't lose your history/progress! 🙂
