Is There a Placement Test?
Currently we do not have a placement test, but we're working on adding one in the future for those who want some help getting started or who are trying to prepare for the CIPLE (i.e. the A2 proficiency test for residency/citizenship).
In the meantime, we have assigned estimated CEFR levels to our Units and episodes to help guide your learning. For those of you who are unfamiliar with these levels, this is a simplified way to think of them:
- A1 - Beginner
- A2 - Upper Beginner
- B1 - Early Intermediate
- B2 - Upper Intermediate
- C1 - Advanced
The Units start from the very basics and generally get harder as you move down the list. You can select a level at the top of the units page to jump from level to level, from A1 up to B2. You are free to skip over whichever Units are too easy, too hard, or not relevant to you. You can always come back to them later!
The episodes (Shorties, Podcasts, & Videos) can also be sorted by level (A1 - C1) using the filters at the top of the page.
We hope the CEFR levels help you find content that is right for you. Just keep in mind that language fluency is more complicated than what a single level represents. Our dialogues and other content often cut across multiple levels, as is expected when using more realistic language, so these levels are just an estimate.
