Is There a Placement Test?
Currently we do not have a placement test to find your current level. However, we have assigned estimated CEFR levels to our Units and other content to help guide your learning. For those of you who are unfamiliar with these levels, this is a simplified way to think of them:
- A1 - Beginner
- A2 - Upper Beginner
- B1 - Early Intermediate
- B2 - Upper Intermediate
- C1 - Advanced
If you're relatively new to learning Portuguese, we usually recommend starting at the A1 level. (Even our more advanced learners often mention that they learned something new from the easier content.) But if it's too easy, it's no problem to skip ahead until you find the right fit.
The Units start from the very basics and generally get harder as you move down the list. You can select a level at the top of the units page to move between A1 up to B2. You are free to skip over whichever Units are too easy, too hard, or not relevant to you. Everything is unlocked from the beginning and you can always come back to them later!
The episodes (Shorties, Podcasts, & Videos) can also be sorted by level (A1 - C1) using the filters at the top of the page.
We hope the CEFR levels help you find content that is right for you. If not, feel free to reach out for more personalized guidance.
Keep in mind that language fluency is more complicated than what a single level represents. Realistic dialogues often cut across multiple levels, so these levels are just an estimate.
