"Sign in to confirm that you're not a bot" message on Videos
Are you seeing this message when you try to watch Videos? "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot. This helps protect our community"
We use YouTube to host our videos and this is an automatic message that comes from YouTube. If you're already logged in to our website, you do not actually need to log in again.
You can usually resolve the issue by doing one or more of these things:
- If you're using a VPN, try disabling it, or switching to another location
- If you have any adblockers / privacy tools / browser extensions running, try disabling those for our site. (These tools could potentially block connections between the embedded YouTube video and YouTube.com, preventing the necessary cookie sharing. This could possibly trigger YouTube's bot-protection system because it can't verify you're a "legitimate" viewer without the cookies.)
- Try a fresh installation of a different browser that you don't normally use (that doesn't have those types of settings turned on) and use that for Practice Portuguese
The reason you see this message:
YouTube has recently changed how it handles embedded videos, particularly for users who use VPNs, or have anti-tracking security features enabled on their browsers that may prevent YouTube cookies from being shared with the YouTube iframe.
In order to watch a video, cookies have to be shared between YouTube.com and the embedded video on our site (or any site). If that cookie sharing is blocked, YouTube may treat it as something suspicious, which triggers that message to appear. This is YouTube's policy and unfortunately there's nothing we can do to change it from our end.
